Supporting the Body that’s Doing it All: Pre & Postnatal Pilates at Eureka Health

Somewhere between the pelvic girdle pain, the growing to-do list, and the question of whether it's still okay to exercise, most of the pregnant women we see just want a straight answer: what can I actually do right now, and who do I ask?

Pregnancy and early motherhood bring enormous change — physically, emotionally, and in the way you move through your day. So much is shifting at once that having the right support close by can make a real difference to how you feel, both now and in the months after birth.

We're with you through it

Our osteopaths, physiotherapists and clinicians see a lot of women through pregnancy and the postnatal period, and it's some of our favourite work. Our Pre & Postnatal Pilates classes grew out of that experience — built to help you stay strong, comfortable and confident as your body changes.

The aches and pains we see most

Pelvic girdle pain, sacroiliac pain, pubic pain, coccyx pain, rib discomfort, lower back pain — these are common, not something you have to just push through. Our practitioners help manage the pain itself, guide you on what movement is safe, and adjust your activity so you can keep doing the things that matter to you.

Why movement is part of the plan

Staying active during pregnancy is generally associated with better pelvic health, fewer common discomforts, and more confidence heading into birth. After birth, guided exercise can support the return of core and pelvic floor strength and help you ease back into the activities you love — but the guidance matters just as much as the exercise itself, which is where having a clinician in the room changes things.

Continuity of care, not a generic class

Our Pre & Postnatal Pilates classes are led by instructors who are also allied health clinicians, kept small enough that your instructor actually knows you. In many cases, the same person who completes your pre or postnatal assessment also leads your class — so they already know your history, understand your pelvic health, and can tailor what you're doing session to session rather than running you through a standard program.

Support beyond the studio

Alongside Pilates, we offer a few other things worth knowing about early:

  • TENS machine hire for labour — one of our most popular services, so it's worth pre-booking

  • Evidence-based mastitis care, including therapeutic ultrasound

  • Collaboration with Ballarat OGB doctors, nurses and midwives

  • Pelvic floor assessment and birth-preparation guidance (see our Pelvic Health page)

Where to start

  • For pregnancy or postnatal aches and pains, book an appointment with one of our osteopaths or physiotherapists via our website.

  • Before joining our Pilates classes, you'll need a Pre or Postnatal Exercise Assessment — head to our booking page to organise this.

  • For pelvic floor assessments or birth-preparation guidance, visit our Pelvic Health page.
